The Custom Chess Insertion Toolbar Of OoChess

The Chess Insertion Toolbar

The Chess Insertion Toolbar works with the Template's external helper program to insert material into your document, such as a formatted chess game or an index. These are advanced tools.

Insert PGN

This option allows you to insert a game, or several games, directly into your document from a PGN file in a formatted style. The game(s) are inserted at the cursor.

We'll look into this feature in more depth in a later posting. I will also be posting a full tutorial on using this feature to create a complete tournament game book. This should be ready in the next few days.

Insert Quiz

This option allows you to insert tactical exercises, or a quiz, directly into your document from a PGN file. The tactical exercise diagrams are inserted at the cursor.

This too is a more complex feature that we'll examine in more depth in a later posting. Here, too, I will be posting a complete tutorial on how to use this feature to create a tactics book.

Insert Crosstable

This option allows you to insert a tournament crosstable directly into your document from a PGN file. This too is a complex feature and will get its own posting in a few days.

Insert Opening Index

Assuming that you have inserted a number of games into your document using Insert PGN, you can also have an opening index inserted into your document by clicking on the Insert Opening Index icon. (More on this in a later posting.)

Insert Game Index

Once you have inserted a number of games into your document using Insert PGN, you can have a game index inserted into your document by clicking on the Insert Game Index icon. (More on this in a later posting.)

Reorder Games

The ability to insert a PGN game into your document, and have all the formatting done for you, is a nice, helpful feature. But it is quite possible that you may end up with your inserted games being out of order in your document. This option allows you to renumber them. This is particularly useful for someone using OoChess to build a chess magazine. A later posting will describe this feature in more detail.

That is, to be sure, just a brief description of what these useful features can do. I will be posting more details about how these powerful features are used at a later time. In the meantime, those who don't want to wait for those posting to the blog can easily download a copy of the OoChess manual for themselves here:

http://1drv.ms/1GgiIXt

When you click on the above link, the manual will be displayed in Word Online. Just below the top left corner, just below Word Online, you'll see the  DOWNLOAD button. Click on this to download a copy of the manual for yourself. Take some time to have a look at what the templates can do.
