While constructing the OoChess project, I also used OoChess to create several example documents, and all the material that a user would need, in order to reconstruct it themselves as part of a learning process. The very first of these tutorials is called Book Shell.
In this tutorial you'll learn how to create a book shell in Open Office Writer for whatever OoChess project you want to make, whether it is a chess diary, a newsletter or even a chess book. All these projects have some things in common, such as a cover image, a table of contents (TOC), and headings for the various material that you add to the project. You'll also learn how to create a footer for each page and a page number. These are the topics discussed here. Once you understand how to work with these aspects of creating a chess project, you'll be able to make pretty much any chess project that you can imagine.
There is also a short five page section on how to make the actual cover used in our example. It is called, Making a Simple Cover Picture. Those who are not interested in learning how to go about doing this can skip the section entirely. It is a very basic and quick lesson and it only uses the very simple Paint program that comes with Windows.
The last section of this tutorial is a collection of General Tips, those little helpful bits of advice on how to do things quicker or easier.
You can download a PDF copy of this tutorial by itself just to peruse and see if it is of any interest to you:
